New Album by Amy Gamlen Group is now available on PJU Records!
We are happy to announce the release of saxophonist/composer Amy Gamlen’s new album “Direction” on our label PJU records.
“Direction” was recorded by Jean Taxi at Studio Val d’Orge and mixed/mastered in Paris by Philippe Tessier du Cros. It features Thomas Savy (bass clarinet), Michael Felberbaum (guitar), Stephane Kerecki (double bass), Karl Jannuska (drums) & special guest David Prez (tenor sax).

Nous sommes heureux d’annoncer la sortie du deuxième disque de la saxophoniste/compositrice Amy Gamlen sur notre label PJU records.

PJU debut album is CHOC! on Jazzmagazine

We are happy to announce that our first album as a sextet has been awarded a CHOC! (highest rating) on the December issue of the French journal Jazzmagazine/Jazzman. It also got a nice review (Découverte!!) on JazzNews. The CD can be purchased from the Catalogue page or downloaded from all major digital distribution platforms (iTunes, Amazon ….)

We would also like to thank to all those who came to our CD release concert at Les Disquaires on the 17th November. It was a great gig and video excerpts of this concert will soon be available on this website. A special thanks also goes to Philippe, owner of Les Disquaires, for his continuous support.

Two upcoming concerts in Paris this month before the official CD launch in November. We will be performing at the Baiser Sale on the 20th September. The concert will be broadcasted live on the JazzLive radio programme on TSF Jazz radio channel. On the 29th we will be performing at Studio Charles Trenet in Radio France. The concert will be recorded and broadcasted on ‘Le Bleu, La Nuit’ on France Musique. Our official CD launch is scheduled for the 17th November at Les Disquaires. The new CD features 9 new compositions by Romain Pilon, David Prez, Sandro Zerafa and Karl Jannuska.

We are also happy that Romain Pilon’s recording NY3 (PJU008) got awarded a CHOC (highest rating) on JazzMan/JazzMagazine and “Indispensable” on JazzNews.

2 concerts à noter ce mois ci avant la sortie officiel du disque du 6tet en Novembre. Nous jouerons au Baiser Salé le 20 sept, concert retransmis en direct sur TSF pour l’émission Jazz Live. Le 29, pour Radio France cette fois ci : nous serons “live” au Studio Charles Trenet à la Maison de la Radio, pour l’emission “le Bleu le Nuit” de Xavier Prevost. Notre sortie de disque officielle est prévue le 17 novembre aux Disquaires, un nouveau lieu du jazz, situé quartier Bastille.

Ce nouveau disque du PJU 6tet comprend 9 compositions de Romain Pilon, Sandro Zerafa, David Prez et Karl Jannuska.

Nous sommes aussi heureux d’annoncer que le disque “Ny3″ de Romain Pilon (PJU008) a reçu un “Choc” dans jazzman-Jazz Magazine et un “Indispensable” dans Jazz News.

The new Paris Jazz Underground sextet is born!

After a very exciting first gig at the Baiser Salé in Paris on the 24th April (thanks to all those who came listening to us) we spent a day at Sextan Studios in Malakoff (France) were we recorded our new repertoire. The session was recorded by Nicolas David. It will be mixed and mastered by Katsuhiko Naito at Avatar Studios in New York and it is scheduled for release in September 2012 on the PJU label.

We are happy to announce two new releases on the Paris Jazz Underground label:

- Karl Jannuska’s ‘The Halfway Tree’ (PJU009) featuring Karl Jannuska on drums, Sienna Dahlen on vocals, Olivier Zanot on alto saxophone, Nicolas Kummert on tenor sax, Pierre Perchaud on guitars, Tony Paeleman on piano and Fender Rhodes and Andrew Downing on 5 string cello. ‘The Halfway Tree’ was recorded by Nicolas David at Studio Sextan in Malakoff (France) and mixed and mastered by David Travers Smith at Found Sound in Toronto, (Canada). ‘The Halfway Tree’ was awarded a CHOC on the May 2012 edition of JazzMan/JazzMag.

- Romain Pilon’s NY3 (PJU008) featuring Romain Pilon on guitar, Matt Brewer on bass and Colin Stranahan on drums. NY3 was recorded, mixed and mastered in New York by Michael Perez Cisneros.

David Prez’s “Awakening”

We are happy to announce the release of David Prez’s new album ‘Awakening’ on our label PJU records. ‘Awakening’ was recorded at La Buissonne in Pernes Les Fontaines and mixed and mastered at Avatar Studios in New York. It features Laurent Coq on piano, Yoann Loustalot on trumpet/flugelhorn, Romain Pilon on guitar, Yoni Zelnik on bass and Karl Jannuska on drums. The official CD release concert is scheduled on the 30th March at Sunside Jazz Club in Paris. The album can be purchased on the Catalogue page.

Paris Jazz Underground will start a new residency at the recently refurbished Parisian club Les Disquaires in the Bastille area. The series of concerts will kick off on February 22nd with Sandro Zerafa Quartet (featuring Laurent Coq, Yoni Zelnik and Karl Jannuska).

The newly created Paris Jazz Underground Sextet will be performing at Baiser Salé in Paris on the 24th April, before entering the studio to record its new repertoire.

Paris Jazz Underground has some new faces and some exciting projects coming up. In April 25 and 26, the new PJU sextet, featuring two new members, Yoni Zelnik and Olivier Zanot, will enter the studio to record its first opus. The band members will compose new music for this CD, which will be out on the PJU label in 2012.

David Prez’s ‘Awakening’ , Karl Jannuska’s ‘The Halfway Tree’ and Romain Pilon’s ‘NY3′ – three new exciting releases on the Paris Jazz Underground label – PJU records, scheduled for 2012.
